Any type of postcard will be great. If you can make one even better.
The brief is below
Home Sweet Home
National & International Communities / Individuals - Postcard Brief:
The Customs House Arts Centre in South Shields, Tyne & Wear, England is an arts centre passionate about working with its community and delivering socially engaged community projects which inspire people to get creative and engage in arts activities. This year we are running a project exploring the concept of Home Sweet Home and what this may mean to an individual. Our previous high profile projects include Casting Off…A Coat For A Boat and A Grand Tour - google them to find out more!
The project will come together in form of a major exhibition and we want to include a contribution from the national and international community somehow. So, we would like to invite the national and international community to send us a postcard telling us what ‘Home Sweet Home’ means to them.
The aim is to fill the gallery space with as many postcards from across the country and the world as possible! We could potentially get very powerful display of messages and share them with the community and on-line too.
If you are creative you can make your postcard or just buy a standard postcard and send it to us. But we want postcards from everyone! Regardless of whether you are creative or not! Its just we’re giving artists, designers and makers the chance to show-off a little but essentially, we want to get postcards from people of all ages, cultural backgrounds and walks of life! If you are part of an organized group, whether it is creative or not why not share this amongst your group?
So whether you’re an office worker, a seaman, a prison officer, a solider, a housewife, a model, a child just growing up, a greengrocer, a lawyer, or refuse collector, a grandparent or any other, we want you to feel inspired and tell us what those three little words mean to you! It could be that you were born in one country and now live in another or you have lived in your hometown all your life, or whatever your story of Home Sweet Home, please share this with us!
The exhibition will be open to the public from 1 December through to 31 January 2013.
We will send a press release out about the project and the postcard element but if you want to assist us with sharing it with your local press, then do let us know! We will send you a press release template and project outline to send out. To avoid confusion, please do not send your own press release! We will post the information on Facebook, Twitter and our website too.
We also want you to Pass It On to your friends and family. So if you have family who live elsewhere in the country or abroad, please pass this information and instructions onto them. And ask them to pass it on too! Please be aware we cannot return any postcards and will not accept electronic postcards either.
Postcards can be sent from now until the submission deadline which is 20 November 2012
Each postcard needs to have the following information:
Full Name: Gender: Age: Occupation:
Country of Origin: Place and Country of Residence:
